Over 200 people participated in the Bay Area 17.9 miles Walk to Feed the Hungry that took place on Sunday, September 11th, walking from San Jose to Sunnyvale to Mountain View and ending at Sarah Wallis Park in Palo Alto. The Walk officially started at 9AM and ended at 7PM. The weather was beautiful--sunny, cool and breezy all the way. The kindness and generosity of the donors and people along the path were beautiful--the members at Buddhi Vihara who offered us healthy drinks and snacks, the members at the Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale who offered us a delicious vegetarian lunch, the business establishment owners who offered us their restroom facilities, and the warmness of the people who cheered us on in their energetic hand waves and honks.
Now with my tiring and aching feet soaking in warm water and epsom salt, my heart is filled with joy that our little effort can help so many people in their fundamental survival needs. Surrounded by abundance of material and immaterial nourishment, my body will recover in a day or so. This will not be the case for those who suffers from malnourishment and on the verge of dying from starvation. To be able to help others is a blessing and we can share our blessings by supporting Buddhist Global Relief's mission to relief world hunger.
